Logan and Cache valley have a very nice feel to them. Hill AFB is 30 miles or so to the south, with mountains in between. Is that far enough for safety if Hill were nuked? Are there any other concerns for Logan?

IF I remember my 'Life after doomsday' book correctly, the other thing about AF bases is to know (1) what type of planes use it (i.e, bombers or fighters) and (2) which direction do they usually take off in.

(1) Startegic bomber bases will be hit first (surprise attack) and hard to prevent retaliation. Tactical fighter bases may or may not be hit at all. (Considering the number of warheads available, I will assume they'll catch at least one hit; the question is at what point in an all-out attack.)

(2) Follow-on nuclear attacks may occur with air bursts in the typical flight paths to knock down any planes that do get airborne.
