Lott, Jr., author of More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws For each additional year that a concealed handgun law is in effect the murder rate declines by 3 percent, rape by 2 percent, and robberies by over 2 percent. Concealed handgun laws reduce violent crime for two reasons. First, they reduce the number of attempted crimes because criminals are uncertain which potential victims can defend themselves. Second, victims who have guns are in a much better position to defend themselves… … Murder rates decline when either more women or more men carry concealed handguns, but a gun represents a much larger change in a woman's ability to defend herself than it does for a man. An additional woman carrying a concealed handgun reduces the murder rate for women by about 3 to 4 times more than an additional man carrying a concealed handgun reduces the murder rate for men. http://www.press.uchicago.edu/Misc/Chicago/493636.html Video Training for Women: A Woman’s Guide to Firearms http://www.thearmedcitizen.com/gunpages/ladyguide.htm Coronado Leather Makers of handcrafted concealment leatherwear http://www.coronadoleather.com/

Monday, June 05, 2006 - 01:57 am Any woman who shoots and kills a man attempting to rape her should be awarded the ears... if not other parts of the criminals anatomy. Women with guns would save the taxpayers the expense of incarcerating these low-lifes. Gr-r-r-r! Cyrus35

Monday, June 05, 2006 - 03:54 pm Every woman on this forum (and elsewhere) should know how to safely and confidently handle and care for a firearm. It is our responsibility as Americans, ladies! The more people who are comfortable with and own firearms the more secure will be that right. The more people who are afraid of them, the easier to disarm the country. Go to an NRA (National Rifle Association) class and develop respect for and skill with a firearm. It is a learned skill. Teach your children. Take them to the gun range. It's a great family sport! The NRA even offers competition for kids! As a woman, I hold several firearm instructor certifications. If I can do it, so can you! If you have questions about it, write me and I will encourage you personally!

Monday, June 05, 2006 - 04:04 pm Good for you, Arial! I fully agree, "Every woman... should know how to safely and confidently handle and care for a firearm." I wish you success in your efforts. If every woman was armed and well-trained, maybe rape would be a thing of the past. Cyrus35
