Conspiracy Theorists

Everyone has heard, and has probably used the term "conspiracy theorist," and the fact of the term being in common use, also indicates that we generally agree on what it means. I saw a movie by that name, and the title character was a raving lunatic who kept his food in thermoses with combination locks to reduce his chances of being poisoned by imaginary enemies.
Regardless of how the stupid movie turned out, what's important here is the common perception people have of someone to whom that label is applied, and just as important, is who it is that applies the label. The common perception is that someone who is labeled a "conspiracy theorist" is suffering from some type of psychological disorder, and that label is usually applied to people by our government, and our news media. The next thing to consider, is that the label is applied to anyone who questions our government's version of events in any matter. Doesn't it logically follow that the media are teaching us to assume that anyone who questions the government is insane? When that label is applied to a person, doesn't it become easy to dismiss everything they say without even hearing it? How convenient for them.
I think the label first became widely used to slander people who questioned the details surrounding the JFK assassination, and forty years later, there aren't too many thinking people who still believe the Warren Commission's "lone gunman" explanation. That explanation is doubted by everyone who has taken the time to look into the details, and believed only by people who refuse to.
Which is "theory" and which is fact? In the absence of a full confession, this can only be decided by a preponderance of evidence, and it would be silly to come to a conclusion on any matter without looking at all the evidence available. This is only common sense, just as it is safe to assume some degree of guilt or complicity on the part of anyone who lies about an event, or tries to hide, plant, or destroy any type of evidence.
Conspiracy theories arise from evidence. After the government releases an explanation of a particular event, a conspiracy theory is only born because evidence exists to disprove their explanation, or at least call it into question. There's nothing insane about it, unless you define sanity as believing whatever the government tells you. In light of the fact that our government lies to us regularly, I would define believing everything they tell you as utter stupidity.
In July of 1996, flight 800 exploded over Long Island. Shortly after their terrorist explanation failed scrutiny, our government then explained the event by claiming that a faulty electrical system caused a spark that ignited a fuel tank, and the people who doubted this explanation were quickly labeled "conspiracy theorists." More than a hundred witnesses saw a missile travel from the ground up to the plane just prior to its explosion, but rather than being treated as eyewitnesses to an event, they were labeled "conspiracy theorists," which label allowed all subsequent investigation to ignore the strongest evidence in the matter.
Our "investigative" news agencies decided to accept and disseminate the official story, and they helped us forget the U.S. naval station nearby, the fact that missiles were regularly test fired there, and naturally, they paid no heed to more than a hundred "conspiracy theorists" who saw the plane get blown out of the sky by a missile. I believe that the U.S. Navy accidentally shot down flight 800, and that's my belief because it's the most sensible explanation that can be drawn from the available evidence. I'm not theorizing about conspiracies, but there are conflicting explanations of the event, and if the Navy did accidentally blow a passenger plane out of the sky, who would have a motive to lie about it? The U.S. government, or a hundred witnesses?
Then of course, there were the "crazy conspiracy theories" arising from the bombing of the Alfred Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City. In that matter, audio tapes and witnesses agree that there were two explosions, the first of which occurred inside the building between eight and ten seconds before the truck bomb exploded. Explosive experts agree that Timothy McVeigh's fertilizer bomb could not have destroyed the building, and the FBI's counter terrorism chief, and members of BATF lied about their whereabouts during and prior to the catastrophe. The evening news decided not to tell you any of this, and they will label anyone who tries to a "paranoid conspiracy theorist." In light of the evidence, we would be complete fools if a conspiracy theory didn't exist.
There were no conspiracy theories arising from the explosion of flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, and there were no conspiracy theories arising from the work of the uni-bomber, so the newly invented psycho-babble that tries to explain the malady of conspiracy theorists, also needs to explain why millions of conspiracy theorists all decided not to theorize about those events. There is no psychological malady. There was simply no evidence to indicate a conspiracy.
The real question is not why people theorize about conspiracies, but why people choose to believe the government's version of events when it's obvious that they're lying. One reason is that most people never see the evidence because our "news" industry hides it, and another reason is that the same news industry will quickly associate anyone who questions the government with the people who see Elvis, Bigfoot, and UFO's.
But sadly, I think the main reason people choose to believe the government's version of events despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, is because it's easier, and safer. If you ignore most of the evidence, and accept as plausible whatever ridiculous explanation the T.V. provides, your life remains simple, and you get to sit on your a** and watch more T.V. If on the other hand, you pluck your head from that same a** and realize you've been lied to, as a citizen in a democratic society, you're instantly burdened with being responsible for doing something about it. Every citizen of the United States has a civic duty to participate in their government, and keep themselves informed of its actions, or government "of the people, by the people, and for the people" isn't possible. You were warned that "eternal vigilance is the price of freedom, " but you chose to ignore your government, and believe whatever they told you, and because of this, Americans have lost their freedom. Although presidents and senators are public servants, unlike the dog catcher and mailman, they wield a lot of power over people's lives, and that's why they have to be watched, and scrutinized.
Statistical analysts from UCLA and Rutgers University believe that John Kerry won the 2004 presidential election by an estimated 1.3 million votes, and despite the fact that these learned scholars are probably the most qualified people alive to forward such an opinion, our news madia dismisses this as "conspiracy theory." George W. Bush lost the 2000 election, and he lost the 2004 election, but he's occupying the White House, shredding our constitution, and stealing our wealth and freedom in a "war on terror" that's as fraudulent as his presidency because many Americans are too stupid to see it, too lazy to do anything about it, or both.
I'm sorry if I sound angry, but the fact of the matter is that I am angry. While you were staring into the television like an idiot, our freedom, wealth, and constitutional protections have been stolen from us, and because you're stupid enough to believe the manure being shoveled by our government, you've allowed them to commit bigger and more heinous crimes. Because you were too lazy to research their nonsensical economic policies, and see them for the scams that they are, we'll all soon be living in poverty. And because you're so lazy, apathetic, and easily lied to, millions have died for the profits of a few. I have every right to be angry, and only a fool wouldn't be.
Only a small portion of my anger is reserved for the government of the United States, because they only did what can be expected of any government. They grabbed money, power and control where it was easy to do so. Most of my anger is directed toward my fellow American citizens, because they allowed it to happen by believing whatever they're told, and not doing what's expected of them. Patriotism in America does not mean waving the flag in blind loyalty to the government. As an American citizen, you have a civic duty to question your government, and hold them accountable for their actions, not use the flag as a blindfold. The American people have been duped once again, and it doesn't seem like it's a difficult thing to accomplish.
America's latest "conspiracy nuts" are better known as the 9-11 truth movement. The news media are doing their usual job of slandering them with their usual childish name calling, but for more than three years, they have refused to show you the documented fact, scientific data, expert testimony, photographic evidence, or the credible eyewitness accounts that prove U.S. government complicity in the events of September, 11, 2001. If this were just a "crazy conspiracy theory," I don't think people in our government would have worked so hard to destroy, hide, and lie about the evidence. The White House tried to derail every investigation into the matter. If we had an honest government, we wouldn't have conspiracy theories. We would have honest investigations, and fair trials, but these things are disappearing from America.
There are disturbing facts regarding the events of September 11 that every American needs to be aware of, but naturally, none of it will be on T.V. I've met a lot of people in the 9-11 truth movement, and I can assure you that none of them are crazy, paranoid, or even "conspiracy theorists." One generalization I can make about them is that they all seem to be very intelligent. Maybe the smartest thing you could do would be to start listening to them. The Arabs don't "hate your freedom." Interesting comments, Jolly Roger. Conspiracy is not a theory but an historical fact. You can start as far back as Cataline's conspiracy to overthrow the Roman republic. It included some members of the Roman Senate but was exposed by Marcus Tullius Cicero and the top conspirators had to flee for their lives.
Every nation has had conspiracies of wealthy and powerful men who wanted "more"... more power, more wealth, etc.
Europeans think that us Americans are foolish and naive for our refusal even to consider the possibility of conspiracies in high places.

Perhaps that is because Europe is a much older, more experienced country the way a parent knows far more than a child simply because the parent witnessed more in life. And America, getting older, but still not as old as many other countries on earth, remains naive and wet behind the ears. If we can't put two and two together over decades, perhaps it will take Americans a few centuries more before they accept the truth. Thankfully, a small remnant sees the truth now.

It may not have as much to do with the "maturity" of America as with the patient malevolence of the "malefactors of great wealth."
In the 1920s, J.P. Morgan had one of his minions find out which newspapers had the controlling influence over public opinion in the U.S. He reported to Morgan that just 25 newspapers virtually controlled the formation of public opinion in this country.
Morgan proceeded to buy controlling interests in them all. (He had always been a major contributor to both "capitalist" and "socialist" movements, thus enabling him to influence either camp favorably.) Now, with controlling interest in the dominant opion forming newspapers, he (and his elitist associates) could move our country in the direction he wanted.
BTW, his major investments in British war bonds during WWI were threatened by the distinct possibility of a German victory in that conflict. He would have lost hundreds of millions of dollars, so he played a major part in bringing the U.S. into the war to ensure a victory of the British Empire over the German empire, thus protecting his investments and rewarding him and his associates with handsome profits.
It bothered him and his associates not at all that they were bringing our country into an unnecessary war, bleeding us of blood and treasure for their own profit.
This is just the briefest thumbnail sketch of how our country has been constantly betrayed by powerful interests in corporate,financial, and academic America.
Why have these people not been brought to trial for treason? As the poet said,

Contrary to what some may believe, this column isn't a partisan love fest. This column is about presenting the facts and then allowing each of us to reconcile those facts in whatever way we see fit. It's about making each of us aware of what is going on. Hopefully a few will decide to make a difference. I'm reminded of Admiral Yamamoto's quote in Tora, Tora, Tora as the Japanese fighter planes descended upon Pearl Harbor, "I'm afraid we've awakened a sleeping Giant." I often wonder what it will take to awake the sleeping giant inside each of us as our freedoms are slowly eroded?
Truth sometimes is difficult to understand. Arthur Schopenhauer said; "All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident." We are involved in an epic struggle between good and evil. This struggle takes on many faces. There is the face of liberalism versus conservatism, the face of pro-life versus murder, the face of family values versus deviant perversion, the face of freedom versus socialism/slavery and the list goes on and on. Each of those and many more are worth fighting for and worth expending our energy and resources.
While not condemning anyone for fighting the above battles, there is another struggle waging behind the scene, one that will determine the outcome of the battles above. It's also a fight between good and evil, but it is being waged while our attention is diverted elsewhere. You won't find this war reported on FOX or CNN, nor will you find it in the newspapers. The media's only purpose in this war is to divert the attention of the masses. This isn't a war we can watch from the comforts of our homes with our remote cheering for the best one-liner. Nor will we be informed on our car radio as we drive to work or home. Unfortunately, in this war many have been relegated to spectator status in the game that counts most. We can even show some short-term victories in the battles listed above while we lose ground in the ultimate war that raging.
The war I speak of is that of liberty and agency, that would be free-agency. While the above battles are symptoms of this struggle, they're only by-products of a more sinister behind the scenes battle taking place beyond the scrutiny of the public. They take the place of unconstitutional laws being passed by our elected officials without public awareness. They take the place of politicians and others subverting the rights of each American citizen. They take the place of international treaties dictating our future way of life. They take the place of traitorous individuals pushing for a global community through the New World Order. They take the place of leaders navigating our Nation towards more UN control. Yes, if one watches long enough, you'll see mentions here and there in the media, but by in large, the media aids and abets with the smoke-n-mirrors tactics while ignoring the real war.
The real war isn't the war most Americans are engaged in. While we've been diverted by other skirmishes, traitorous warriors are attacking where we least expect it. To use a sports cliché, "Hit'em where they ain't." The media has been careful to insure we aren't focusing on the covert assault. David O. McKay, referring to the battle of freedom, called Americans a "sleepy and apathetic people, urging them to awake to a sense of their awful situation."
Judge Learned Hand said, "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it." It's my hope that liberty hasn't died in too many of our hearts for, if that be so, Socialism or slavery will certainly flourish.

Probably for the same basic reason that our FedGov continues to turn a blind eye to the illegals swarming across our southern border, that American companies continue to sell and give militarily sensitive technology and other kinds of foreign aid to Russia and China, that Clinton was not tried for Chinagate and was not convicted in his smoke screen lying trial, and that TWA 800, PAA 103, 911, OKC, Waco, Ruby Ridge, Vince Foster's murder, Columbine, etc. were never properly investigated. Our goveernment has been hijacked.

I am sure there are millions like me, who continue to have a certain fondness for Bell due to many memories of wild and crazy shows enjoyed in the past, both of the informative nature and the signature Art Bell "Wingnut" variety. It was good entertainment, and many of us gave him a lot of leeway simply because he entertained us with wild, weird and wooly things. Was he an "operative" of some kind? Who cared? It was great science fiction most of the time.
But 911 sliced through everything, and at this point it seems that what a person knows and says about 911 is a now measure of that person...and a measure of their intelligence. The vast, stupid majority (as always) accepts whatever it is told and that becomes its firmly entrenched belief. Others have questions and doubts, and by virtue of position or job or family are obliged to uphold, outwardly, the official line. Still others smell a big fat rat, and many have spent years studying every detail of 911 and assembling knowledge, details and facts. Art Bell has either not done any of the latter or he has been quietly told what to espouse. Who knows? Does it matter? In any case, his recent comments about 911 conspiracies and this new feud with Jeff Rense is probably the last straw for a lot of us.
Art has openly, formally proclaimed himself to be on the side of the powers that be. He is anti-investigation. He is completely unscientific. He has drawn a 911 line in the sand and firmly taken a stand on one side of it. For Art, there is no debate and no questions remaining to be answered. Such a stance completely undermines the very "character" he took decades to develop and is contradictory to what we thought he was. One wonders why he would cast aside a persona which took years to create and which made him world famous.
We originally thought Art Bell was the one who asked forbidden questions about hidden things, and investigated mysteries with guests who were often investigators themselves. We thought he was...at the least...open-minded, since he allowed all kinds of crazies to come on and talk to the nation about weird and nutty stuff. Like all radio, however, it was essentially just entertainment. And some of the wacky stuff actually filled a real need people have for novelty - because life, as it is, is sometimes boring. Art explored the "fringe," and there actually are some very interesting ideas out there. And guests like Micho Kaku blew our minds with some of the farthest-out ideas of all.
However, the current situation regarding Art Bell seems to illustrate the axiom that "by 911 shall you be known." Clearly, it was one of the great conspiracies of all time - it is also a vast puzzle. And one's progress in grasping the vastness of this real-life puzzle is a measure of one's intelligence...and wisdom. It takes time, effort, thought and work to solve a puzzle, so most people - feeling they already have enough problems - just ignore it altogether. Is this Bell's position? It wouldn't seem so, since his persona was built on presenting, investigating and trying to answer things in hidden and mysterious areas. Is Bell then hereby casting off his original public self like a tattered old coat? In the dissonance between the persona of Art Bell and his recent statements, one sees yet another set of illusions dissolve before one's eyes. We bought into the Bell persona, we must now suffer the disillusion.
The feud with Rense is also very unfortunate, but let's face it, people (the "fans") love feuds. To the feuders it may be unpleasant, but the onlookers love it. So again, it all comes out as good entertainment as far as listeners and readers go. (Does this indicate some deeper flaw in the collective unconscious, this delight in fighting?)
Then Bell played the "anti-semitic" card on Rense, and at that point I had to bail out on Bell. Any intelligent person familiar with Rense.com knows that allegation is absurd...If Bell is reduced to this level of argument, then there isn't much else to say but "farewell, Bell, I hardly knew ya."
And then Art Bell invited millions of us to tune out...and millions will. Oh sure, we'll follow some of the shenanigans as (yes) more entertainment, but I accept Art's invitation to leave.
It feels oddly like the closing of an era, which means, I guess, the beginning of a whole new era. Art has put millions in the position of children within whom it is suddenly dawning that Santa Claus is a made-up story and completely unreal. In the long run, it's no big deal. And it has been a good, long run, as circuses go. Indeed, Art was a master at it, beyond even P.T. Barnum. And in the end, I have to say, "good show."
Heroes rise and fall, but they are but dreams and illusions of the masses - no more real after they have gone than they were before they appeared. Art had a good run and popularized a whole new genre of entertainment: "weird" radio, or whatever it is that he did for so long. I guess one could say Bell's star has long crossed its zenith, and it doesn't matter much any more what he says. To adamantly assert that the official version of 911 is 100% correct is to declare oneself ignorant. And to advise all those listeners who disagree to tune out is career suicide.

I began reading conspiracy works at age 21 and stumbled through several patriotic and other orgs for several years before gaining some perspective. I finally decided that all of these groups offered a piece of the truth but none of them had the lowdown.
It took decades of research, but I eventually put the pieces together and made sense of the whole mess, at least for myself. From a religious and spiritual perspective, I know that it is the truth and nothing but. For those who like things tied up in neat little packages, I think it is worth a look-see. Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the induced blindness of the mainstream media. They do not believe except they see it on television or hear it over the radio. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds.
Yes, Virginia, there are government conspiracies. They exist as certainly as greed and ambition and desire for power exist. At the present time and for all to see, some of the highest officials of this land have agreed upon the telling of a lie. That agreement is a conspiracy by any definition or interpretation of the word. The Secretary of State told the lie to the United Nations. The Vice President pressured the CIA to go along with the lie. The President spoke the lie to the world. Others participated as well, particularly in that same mainstream media that blinds and deafens your little friends. They participated willingly, taking part in the conspiracy in exchange for favors from those same officials.
Nobody lies without reason. Nobody conspires with others to lie without reason. And the purpose of this particular conspiracy to lie was to start a war that nobody but a few rich and powerful leaders wanted, to spend our money and to send forth our children to invade an impoverished and helpless nation whose only worth was that it was, as a Defense Official described it, "swimming in oil". There can be be no more vile a lie than that used to send a nation to war, nor no more dark a war than that waged for profit. This conspiracy committed both crimes.
Yes, Virginia, there are government conspiracies. And the biggest government conspiracy of all is the claim that there are no government conspiracies. Because government conspiracies are creatures of the dark places. They function best when invisible and deniable. But not this time. This time the conspiracy is in the light for all to see. The lie is known, the tellers of that lie identified, their cooperation and collusion plain for the world to see. The lie is beyond question. So too is the conspiracy to lie.
So for all those times you wondered if there was a government conspiracy and your friends shouted you down saying that there were no government conspiracies, now you know they were wrong. You know that if the claim that there are no government conspiracies was their sole argument, that they did not have any real argument at all. Knowing that government conspiracies unquestionable exist, your little-minded friends can no longer claim that there was no government conspiracy to kill John F. Kennedy because government conspiracies don't exist. Your little-minded friends can no longer claim that there was no government conspiracy to kill Robert F. Kennedy because government conspiracies don't exist. Your little-minded friends can no longer claim that there was no government conspiracy to kill Martin Luther King, or Vince Foster or Ron Brown because government conspiracies don't exist. Your little-minded friends can no longer claim that there was no government conspiracy to cover-up the real cause of the TWA 800 crash because government conspiracies don't exist. Your little-minded friends can no longer claim that there was no government conspiracy to blame Arabs for 9-11 because government conspiracies don't exist.
Because government conspiracies DO exist. Bush, Powell, Cheney, Blair, Rumsfeld, etc. et. al. have proved that reality before the world. And with that new awareness, every controversy that was ever dismissed solely on the claim that there are no government conspiracies can be, indeed must be, re-examined in the light of the knowledge that government conspiracies are a very real part of everyday life.

Who even realizes that the leadership of companies like Boeing, Hughes Aircraft, Honeywell, Litton Industries and other large and small defense contractors sell their products and technology to a avowed enemy like China or Russia? Even if they did, would they ask why they expose their families and empires to death and destruction by helping our enemies with their weapons development programs? For that matter, they haven't a clue that the US built up the Soviet Union before WW2, while we also transferred technology and sold ship loads of gasoline to Hitler's Germany? One can find convincing arguments that Wall Street, specifically Rockefeller and Morgan interests, financed both Nazi Germany and Communist Russia, and that the loyalty of monopoly capitalism is not to capitalism, but to a monopoly which is best provided by centralized state control. I believe that the goal is centralized world control.
