Marine Band radio seems to be a good idea... 25 watts of power... $100. Someone tell me why this is or is not a good idea for emergency communication between family and friends.

During several extended power outages from the four hurricanes that hit Florida during the 2004
NHL Season (National Hurricane Leaague) :'>
I relied on the above wind up generator radio for news and entertainment.

No batteries, no solar, nothing needed but to wind up the generator every thirty minutes.

I am not selling the radios, so I do not provide links.

Just plug into to yer search engine "wind up radio" and you will find several models by many sellers. The Baygen I have and have proven it reliable. There is an external power jack for an ac adapter or a solar panel.

>>>>>>><<<<<<<

Baygen AM/FM/SW Wind-UP Radio

Wind it 30 seconds - Plays for 30 minutes!
No Batteries! Self-Powered!
Completely Independent of External Electrical or Battery Power!
Endorsed by the Red Cross and United Nations!

No need for batteries during power outages caused by storms, floods, earthquakes, tornado's, hurricanes, downed power lines or civil disorder. Perfect for camping, boating, gardening and much more.

Put the power of shortwave radio in your hands for weather, international news, Ham bands, government, military, and much more - without the need for any outside power source! No batteries, no plugs, no dependence on unreliable solar power!

I purchased my BayGen FreePlay and Sangean radios from C. Crane Co.: http://www.ccrane.com. Type "radio" in their search blank, then the FreePlay is around page 5 of the radio pages.
